I did a Meguair stage 1 and 2 than 2 coats of wax. (I used Nano wax but go for NXT!!) But if you really want to know, you should check out the "Wash & Wax" lounge. You'll find more info there.

I don't think you need to worry about anything since you are from vancouver, you guys don't have a "real" canadian winter and i doubt they would ever consider salting the roads there.
if you are worried about your undercarriage rusting, you should get it undercoated. The galvanized steel is pretty good to protect from rusting but it can still happen. Being from manitoba and have seen under cars driven in "real" winters with salted roads, for most new cars it is not the chassis that is rusting but mostly the suspension pieces/exhaust and stuff.
For waxing, if your paint is new and no swirl marks, you should consider using paint sealant. If too late, then use NXT can get a good shine but it may not last long and need to use more. You can try a pure carnauba wax also should last long during the colder months. Gold Class is not that great, i would rather use NXT.

For winter protection stay away from a carnuba and go with a synthetic. For maximum protection and durability try out Zanio or Klasse or Einszettes Glanz. All are great choices for winter and summer protection.

Zaino's not a wax, but a synthetic sealant. It's very durable and tends to last longer than waxes, which are usually gone within 2-3 months after application.

Zanio is a synthetic. And yes it is great for winter protection. A carnuba will last about a month or so depending on your climate. Here in Florida we'd be lucky to see 3 weeks out of a carnuba. That is why a quality synthetic is the way to go. It will last for months and can be layered for additional shine and or depth. If youre not familiar with synthetics then you might want to try the Klasse twins. AIO and SG are simple to use and provide great protection.

I dont know why people think Zaino is so expensive. Z1 and Z2 together are about $22 USD. Thats chump change for something that lasts for 6 months and only uses about 1 oz. per coat.
Waxes need to be put on at least once every other month. So now tell me whats expensive.

I use it for the leather. Works realy well and has a strong leather smell.
If you want to do it right, clay bar your car first, then apply one coat of Z1, but dont take it off. Then apply the Z2, take that coat off then apply another.
Their are many posts about Zaino around here. Do a search.

My friend just Zainoed his RSX and it's looking NICE!!! And he also used only Z1 & Z2. There are instructions on the web site. It's easy to follow. Just make sure you find some nice 100% cotton towels!!

(I shouldn't be encouraging that... we should spend in our own country for our own good...)
Anyway, clay bar is a pain. Don't wanna do it again for a long time...

Just takes a really long time, it's tiring on the hands, and I feel like I'm not quite sure what I'm doing cuz I don't really notice the difference visually (but you can generally feel it)... and that stuff is kind of expensive.

if clay bar is a pain then you may be doing it wrong. it only takes me about 15-20 minutes to clay our tsx. and its not expensive at $10 for a bar of clay magic.
try this method next time and i think you'll have a better experience with it. Wash the car completly, then instead of drying it go ahead and rinse the bucket out and re-fill it with fresh soapy water. now go back over the car starting on a quater panel and re wash that section and leave the soap there and use that as lube for the clay. if the clay starts to grab too much then just re suds the area and continue. when you're done with the panel just rinse it off and move to the next one. this method by far is the biggest time saver i've stumbled across in a long time.
claying isnt a pain and can be one of the most rewarding things you can do for your car.

It takes about 15-20 mins. Its not that hard...sheesh...
Your not suppost to see anything different visually, but you will feel the difference like you said. Claying will help to prep the car for polishing so that it will stick better and last longer. Your 15-20 mins and tired hands will be worth the effort.
