wax products

I like to keep my car clean and shine. So I try to wash and wax my car as often as i can. I use Meguiars NXT wax, but I just want to make sure if it is save to so use, say once or twice a month. Or any experts in this forum can recommend some other good products that offer excellent protection and no abrasiveness.

A forum favorite is Four Star UPP. Unfortunately, it's not an OTC product. However it's available here as well as several other online detail sites. An excellent sealant that's easy to use, gives a great shine and has durability. A search will yield several posts about this outstanding product.

And heres a little secret im going to let ya in on. UPP is "better" now then it was a few months ago. Dont ask me why or how, as I cant reveal any additional info. All I can add is it has been "modified"......for the better. Done, I'll say no more!

Try Zaino at zainostore.com

A little on the high price, but the durability is very very good!

NXT is good, but from my experience, a good rain storm can wash it away and the beading action is much less from the day you applied it. NXT can fill in minor swirls and has some cleaners in it, so trying to add an aditional coat the same day is somewhat pointless. When I used NXT, I would apply it montly.

A real recent PM........
John, durability depends purely on exposure to environments and upkeep. I could make UPP last a good 6 months here in So Cal, if I washed regularly, and applied UPPS while drying. I like to use UPP as my base protection, then apply intermediate applications of booster products. Be it Freedom or UPPS (UPP in spray), or even Protectall. Theres many products that can protect and help establish longer longevity for UPP. If you were to polish, and use UPP, and call it "done", I would expect after about 10 weeks, you would see slickness diminish vastly. Beading would still be apparent, but slickness would have suffered.
*Regarding prep'ing for UPP, a polish or paint cleaner is all that is needed.
* Care while living in a condo/apt complex isnt impossible, as some would think. I own a condo, and like you, dont have access to a traditional bucket and hose method.
After the last several weeks, I fig'd my P/U was due for a cleaning. I loaded up my 1 Gal sprayer with Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine, a couple MF's and soaked the surface, wiped and rewiped. Then I used ProtectAll afterwards to boost my UPP. When I was finished with the truck, I used the rest of the No Rinse Wash and Shine in the sprayer, and cleaned the wheels with a soft nylon brush and some FS WHite Lightning All Purpose Cleaner.
Total time? About 1/2 an hr.
Of course this is light maintenance. If you wanted to use a PC or UDM, your going to need some electrical, and shade. Shade and electrical I have, just not an enclosed garage.

that's true, i do feel the NXT is not that durable. but it is pretty easy to apply. by the way, if i just want a simple wax job, which Zaino product should i use. cuz i know they have a line of products to complete a detailing job, but i just don't have time to do that.

For light colored cars, I would use Z-2pro

For dark colors, use Z-5pro

If you want to go all out, use Z-AIO, Z2p or Z5p, and then top it off with Z-CS.
