Wax before or after a long trip?

I'm about to complete my internship for the summer, and in a week do a 2000+ mile drive over the course of a few days to get back home and then get back up to college.

I was planning on doing my first thorough cleaning once I got settled in at college, but I was reading a thread today about how waxing made the bugs just slide right off a recently waxed car. I originally figured it would get quite dirty all over again on the road trip, so there was no use in doing it before hand. But then I suppose a regular car wash after the trip would make it pretty much as good as new anyways, and if the trip up here was any indication, I'm going to be hitting a LOT of bugs. Which makes more sense to you guys?

It's an outdoor car so even waiting till I got to college it wouldn't stay "pristine" too long regardless. And I'll be using the Klasse twins.

what you could do is give it the klasse twins while you're home, once you get to college give it another coat of SG and top it with P21S.

Personally, I would wax before the long trip. I would want the protection to be there for the bugs, bid poop, etc.

my idea would be to put on some otc stuff on it before you left, and when you reach there, do a full detail. That way the bugs can slide off but you aren't going to put in to much effort.

this is where some DG AW would come in handy! give it a layer or two of AW and then hit the road. detail further after the trip.
