washing a really dirty car without scratching

i know theres probably a thread about this before but i couldnt find it. so here is my problem because where i live it rains pretty much everyday. and i have to go thru alot of puddles. and being lowered i took off my mudguards because they scrape everywhere i go. so my car gets dirty really fast.

right now i usually wash that area last. but i just wanted to know what is the correct way of washing your car if it has heavy dirt stuck to the doors and fenders. without scratching or having stuff get stuck to the wash mit

Buy a pressure washer and foam cannon.
If that's out of your price range, try some P21s Total Auto Wash.

i will hose it down first. Don't make physical contact (such as wash mitt) until most of the dirt/debris is off

You can also shop around for the Karcher K 5.85M, it's one of the better built Karchers, plus it has a nice aluminum pump that's used in their gas powered line of PWs.

2500psi is an overkill for foaming cars.......

A good rinse will get most of the dirt off, and as long you have a clean quality mitt you should be fine.

are the detergent dispensers on "home depot" level of gas pressure (2900psi) , washers good for being a foam gun?

Grit Guard® Insert Dual Bucket Washing System

The professional way to wash any vehicle and avoid surface scratches is by using one bucket to wash and the other to rinse the wash media, doubling your protection against washing induced paint surface swirl marks and scratches. Essentially the two bucket washing process provides one bucket that holds sufficient wash concentrate solution to dilute any dirt or grit and allow it to drop down to the Grit Guard® so it’s no longer in the solution. The second bucket, also containing a Grit Guard® for rinsing the wash media and allowing any debris to be dislodged and float down to the bottom to be safely stored, ensuring a grit-free wash media.

Using a carwash concentrate that is formulated with surfactants that encapsulate and lift any grit particles, storing them in the fibres of the washing media to be rinsed off in the Grit Guard® bucket

The Gamma Seal® Lid makes the system a water-tight container, perfect for storing or transporting your car care products to Concours d’élégance or Show car events Being water tight also makes the system portable so you can take your wash water with you.

Each Bucket Dolly is fitted with caster at each corner and is built to withstand up to 250 pounds, Use the included seat cushion to turn your dual bucket washing system into the perfect detailing stool.

For heavily soiled surfaces pre-soak before washing (See also Pressure Washer and High Pressure Foam Cannon (Foam Lance) and Gilmour Foam Gun)

^ Yup

The best way is to thoroughly rinse the car, doesn't have to be high pressure, and rinse the mitt ever so often. Probably at every quarter panel at best. That way you're not dragging the dirt on the paint.

Rinse the car off really good to soften up the debris. Then use a 2 bucket method with grit guard.

if you cant afford a foam cannon, a good alternative is a gilmour foam gun... before i bought a foam gun, i maunally foamed the car by squeezing out my sponge. also use the 2 bucket method with grit guard. lambs wool mitts or any high quality material to prevent scratches

I usually buy a bottle of bug and tar remover, spray the car with that and let it do its thing. Once you spray the car with water the but and tar remover turns to a snot like consistency. It allows me to get a lot of grit off without doing damage to the finish.

I like to hit it with the hose, no nozzle. Then it gets a bath via the Gilmour and some CG Citrus Wash & Gloss. Let sit for about a minute, then do a straight nozzle rinse again. Then wash as normal.
