I was going to post this in Wash & Wax but I figured I would get a better response here.

I have a detail lined up for a 2006 Volkswagen GLI with factory exhaust. I can't tell what metal they're made of because they're so caked in grime. I did an Audi A4 last summer that had stainless tips but I don't want to go after chrome ones with the wrong approach.

So any Vee-Dub fans or owners, your help here is greatly appreciated.

 

The GTI OEM tips are not chrome.

I believe them to be stainless steel....should be the same for GLI.

Clean them and then polish them with a stainless steel polish.
