if you have windows XP run a system restore. that often breaks the trojans and allows them to be removed.
or
you can download spybot search and destroy, run it and delete the trojan
same goes for AD-AWARE SE
after you run these programs, finish up with registry mechanic.
pm me if you need more help

X3 this shit always works for me.

System restore is also handy if you know when exactly you got the virus.

Thumbs up

SPYBOT for a PC.

Dump the PC and get a Mac, no AV required!

Not having much luck, and Im about ready to toss this laptop. Everyone wants $ for a anti virus program which I have spent $ on already, and none have worked. I went back to AVG 8.0 and it tells me the files are inaccessible. Our local Circuit City is closing, Best Buy wanted $200.00 and my PC Club moved!! I dont even know how I managed to get this forum working without closing at least 25 error msg's. Ive got about 10 little envelopes/magnifying glasses in my lower task bar just waiting to pop with error msg's! How am I supposed to run my business! Arghh!

Pat--check out Eset Nod32 antivirus. They have a 30day free trial here so you can see if it cleans the virus. Download, install, update to the latest virus definitions, then run a full scan.

Also, follow up with malwarebytes/spybot/adaware as mentioned earlier. Usually I'll run all 3 in that order as sometimes one does not pick up everything.

Good luck.. let us know if you need more help.

if anything, you could always try to save any important documents or pics or whatver you have, and then just reinstall the Operating System. i ended up doing that one time after i my computer got possessed and nothing else worked. good luck

It could help to run the anti-virus/adaware in safe mode, if you have not done so already.

Use this http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpy...dlPid=10881361

this got me through some hardships when all the others failed to pick up the tough stuff. SuperAntiSpyware rocks in my book! and above all its freeware! Good luck.

Usually the Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-Aware combo works really well with AVG. I've never heard of malwarebytes. Usually if I don't have much luck with fixing the issue, I just load my ghosted image of my hard drive or do a full reboot from scratch.

Mcaffe & Norton don't even list an "Trojan Autobot" as a name .. did you try restoring to a date previous?

That worked for Bloodhound which was doing something similar to a friends.

We run TrendMicro as our corporate AV platform. Did not find squat when I had a malware/virus attack earlier this summer.

Hope you get this figured out and eliminated without having to start from scratch.

Took me weeks and there were still some minor issues; then my PC crashed on boot up one day. Had to have my HD re-imaged due to corrupt files in the OS.

+1 for Malwarebytes. It's cleaned out most of the nasty stuff that sits on most of my friends PC's. I also use Avira Antivir as my virus scanner. Both products are free downloads.

Excel - PM me if you're still having difficulties. I can remote into your PC if you want and help you with fixing it if you need help.

Malwarebytes
Avira Antivir

I did manage to load up HouseCall. But I didnt get to run it as it was still extracting when I left the house.
In all honesty, I have looked at so many anti virus/Spyware/Rogue/Worm programs, I forget what I have downloaded, installed, ran and deleted!
Is it okay to have a couple of these programs loaded?

Should be fine. I use Spybot and Malwarebytes together with no problems. Just make sure the programs are legit, as there's a few that masquerade as Anti Spyware/Malware programs and are in fact trojans, worms, etc themselves. (AntivirusXP 2008 is one that comes to mind)

DAMN AntivirusXP 2008. THAT SHIT WAS NASTY. My sister managed to get that on her computer. I used malwarebytes, ad aware, spybot and one other... It would start all over every time i restarted the computer because it was buried in the registry. I through everything and the kitchen sink at it and finally ended up reformatting it twice before it got rid of everything...

Mine is just getting worse. Now I have lost my internet connection, (Im on my sons LT) somewhere. This was after the HouseCall improperly loaded. To make it worse, I cant even reload HouseCall......The messed up part is this laptop is 5 years old, and not worth dumping anything into. Oh wait, I have $700.00 just burning a hole in my pocket, how stupid of me.......(Yeah right)

Yeah, that's one of the ones that re-spawns itself after you delete it. How I delete that is to remove the entry from the registry (it's under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run) , reboot so it doesn't have a chance to start back, then run Malwarebytes.

Formatting of course is the cleanest way to go, but it's a pain in the ass to set everything back up the way you like.

Patrick - PM me when you're ready and I'll set something up to remotely connect to your PC and clean this thing up.

buy any of those. you will never have to by AV again
never have a popup
never have to defragment your hard drive
never need a firewall
everything is as easy as plugging in and going
never have to install "drivers"
and it will be a business expense

Phee, I ended up running it down to the local puter repair shop........After a quick look at it, he doesnt think he can "fix" whats in error, he may have to reformat the HD. Which is ok in my book. I did backup all my pertinent info, I should only have to reinstall Quickbooks, then SAFELY download a few other items......
I really appreciate the offer though from those willing to help.
I really didnt think it was going to be that difficult. It actually got worse AFETR i ran one of the virus eradicators, although the virus is gone, so is a bunch of other operating files!

If all of those programs have not been successfull. the last resort would be HiJackThis found here http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-...dlPid=10781312 it will give you a log of all your registry keys, you then search those registry keys on the internet to see what programs or spyware uses them. This is one of the best tools that saved my xp comp from the same kind of thing you have (tons of error messages, it even stopped my norton from working). But it is a very powerfull tool, and can screw your computer up if you delete a registry key that is not malicious. Because the keys are what windows uses to run itself and other programs etc. I did this on my comp cuz it was soo bad i couldn't use it anymore, and i thought i might aswell give it a try. The techs that fix comps use this software aswell because of it's capabilities. goodluck and pm me if you need any more info or help

Ok, puter is back, but I cant find an internet connection. Says Wireless conection, not connected. And when I look for a wireless network connection, none show up! I use to have about 6+ that would show up.

There should be a switch on the laptop that turns it on and off. Double check.

connect hardwire and go to your computers manufacturer website. download all the drivers for your model and voila. it will work. you may have to download the drivers on another computer if your ethernet card doesnt work either
