Using old shirts
What kinds of shirts are ok for using on the car? T-shirts, types of materials, etc.?
Should the part around the collar of a t-shirt be removed before being used?
Thanks!

Anything that has a hemm should be avoided. Blend shirts such as those made from a 50/50 cotton/poly blend may pose harm to the cars surface. Now you ask why is it ok to use a 80/20, 70/30 blend of polishing towel for car care? Well, plainly put, show me a shirt that has over 100,000 split hairs per inch, and I'll consider using it for car care.
I would more then likely stay away from all t-shirts also. Theres just no need for recycling articles of clothing for use in car care. Course you could always relegate that T-shrit for dip stick cleaning or door jams, wheels, underhood etc.......

1.) So are old t-shirts ok to clean the rims on the TSX?
2.) I bought some non-abrasive towels to clean and wipe wax from the car. After cleaning the car I put them in the washing machine with some standard clothes detergent. Are you suggesting that this could damage the paint?
Thanks!

The Old Grey Whistle Test
Before the advent of proper detailing tools/ fabrics I used to use old T-shirts to clean a vehicles paint, but remember that was 35 odd years ago, times change, I would rather let my car go dirty (and that's saying a lot) than use them to clean anything but engine compartment, perhaps wheel surfaces
Look a sponsoring forum vendors site for microfiber towels etc..
