Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound

My 03 TL-S has many bird poop etchings on the hood and I am certain that it has gone through the clearcoat. I bought it from a dealer like this and mistakened them for water spots that I thought would be able to wash off easily.

I have tried using Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0 to try and remove the stains but to no avail.. I also heard about the clay bar/detailer technique but I'm 100% sure that won't do the job.

So, I'm gonna start trying to remove the etchings by using the rubbing compound. These bird poop etchings have been on my hood for the last 5+ months. Any cautionary advices I could take before I do this as I know it is a pretty harsh abrasive.. I don't want to damage my clearcoat even more. Any great steps/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !

Pics of the etchings?

I also bought my car with bird poo etchings, but it's unrepairable, unless I repaint my roof.

I'd love to do a repaint on just the hood.. but it's gonna be a different shade of AM compared to the rest of the car. Oh well, sh*t happens, just trying my best to get rid of it because it's quite embarassing to look at.

No clay bar . I bought the kit with clay bar and the detailer spray but that was $16.99.. pretty expensive if you ask me. We can meet up if you want. I'm free on Tuesdays.

I wanna go ahead and experiment with this. I'll let you guys know the results.

Hah, those aren't recent photos of it. It's more noticeable now I think o.o. After Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0, it made it more noticeable in the sun. Oh well, hoping for good results or else I'll let onebadna1nsx take over (:

i'd recommend you wash the whole car first. Then clay bar, and then apply your rubbing compound.

You shouldn't be using use rubbing compound or scratchX over a dirty, unclean surface area. You need to clay bar the area too, to remove imperfections and the crappy smog infested air we have.... The surface should be smooth as glass before you start to work on it. If not, DO NOT work on the car... you'll be inflicting more damage.

I can say with certainty that, that is in the clear coat to some degree. If you have washed, clayed and polished, and its not gone, its etched. The ONLY way to remove it, is to level it. You could actually hide it a tad with EZ Creme Glaze, albeit temporary, its an option. Honda/Acura CC's are not the thickest in the industry.

I tried rubbing compound on one little bird etching on my hood.. and it didnt do anything to it at all.. even with a bit more pressure. If anything.. made the paint dull kinda.. like exceldetail.. I'm also certain that it has gone through the clearcoat.. if I look closely.. I can see cracks right on the bird etchings. If I can get a good macro of this then I will. But these are just more pics from today..
