I have a scratch about 5 inches long on the driver's side door. It is just deep enough to catch your fingernail, but not much deeper than that. I tried Meguiars scratchx 2 by hand, but I am not fully satisfied. The scratch x toned it down a little, but I am thinking about some touch up paint.

Has anyone tried this? It seems like it would be really easy to get some quality paint online and fill the scratch with a toothpick. I am guessing two layers would fill it up. Much better than spending $500 bucks at a body shop to re-shoot the entire door. I am a total noob at this though. Am I missing something?
