Toppers over Sealants
We see a lot of posts from noobies asking what toppers waxes to use over a sealant.
A topper isn't required, and in a lot of cases won't even make a difference. Where is does or can make a noticable difference is if the car is basically polished to perfection and the sealant layers applied and the owner is looking for something to add a little depth and warmth to the sealants more generic glass shine. Toppers will be more noticable on dark colors but also dark colors generate more heat thus reducing the life of carnuba toppers down to a few weeks at best.
The topper isn't going to add noticable life to the protection.
In some cases the topper used can degrade the sealant because the topper used can't just be any old wax you have on the shelf. A lot of OTC waxes contain cleaners and will lift some if not all of the sealant.
If your going to use a topper because you feel you must, then ask the pros what to use so you don't strip off all your hard work.

Nice Dale. Great contribution. Im in total agreement, and really wonder if the addition is really worthy applying vs. an additional layer of sealant. I for one, really just dont detect any significant/noticeable differences in toppers vs sealant x 2. And why compromise it with another chemical. Maybe its time to for me to revisit the wax manufacturers sites and try a few out.
I'd really like to see a blind test done where the witness is just asked "what looks better".....
I dunno, Im one of newer the old school guys I guess.....Sealants rock in my world.......kind of hard to add to already "bitchin", in my book......lol

Don't get me wrong ..I have topped a sealant .. it was Zaino .. but the car was polished out to perfection .. then 5X layers of Zaino applied and topped with 1 layer of Meg #16 ( which isn't available any more in the US ) and it did add depth and warmth. BUT the car was black.
I have topped other cars that weren't that perfect of a darker color and it just didn't do the same .
This is it .. topped with #16...

Most people here don't have the equipment or patience to do the prep required to make a topper benificial.

The only one I use is Megs #16 because it looks as good as any I have tried and it has great life.
But I'll reitterate .. you need the prep under it to make it worth the time etc.. You can put 12 coats of wax on dog sh*t and just end up with shiney dog sh*t.
