too much wax?

Well i made a line almost a foot across the hood. Spent about half hour trying to buff it in. It looks well basically smeared on. i dont have a machine to buff it in. I tried washing it off with a car wash. How do i get rid of it?

What wax? Waxes don't need to be buffed in .. they are applied to the surface .. preferably very thin .. then left to flash ( dry ) then the residue is buffed off with a very soft cloth.

nxt is actually a sealant and not a wax.

with regards to your problem i've found that if you leave nxt on too long or too thick it takes a lot of elbow grease to get it off.

No .. just rehydrate it with NXT on an applicator.

Remember a quarter sized dolop should more than do a front fender.

Apply it very thin.

Rehydrate is the keyword. As Dale said, or if you have some QD, give it a few squirts. Then wipe. Usually with Polymer Protectants, you can do the entire car, then remove, but again, go thin. You just want to apply enough to notice a presence.
