I've noticed recently when there is direct sunlight through the windshield I see swirl marks inside or outside the glass?

I remember when I bought my car and drove it home how crystal clear the windshield was and was wondering if it needs to be polished or just need to use a quality glass cleaner to get it back that way.

 

As always use the least abrasive first. Try a quality glass cleaner, if this doesn't give the result you're looking for try a glass polish

 

Are there any special steps to polishing a windshield? I've seen windows polished, but never the windshield. Should we be worried about stripping any special layer?

 

Next time when looking into the sun run your finger across the inside of the windshield to see if it leaves a smudge. You need to determine which side it is on.
