Swirl marks ftw!!
Swirl marks on my 06 NBP TL piss me off!
I am so very careful when I wash it....use dual bucket method, lamb's wool mitt, only go side to side or up n down motions - no circles (though many say this shouldn't matter if you do it right), and I even blow dry the damn thing with a leaf blower.
Problem is I can't really tell if they were there or I made new ones or what. They're not bad unless you're close up, but I don't know how to tell if they're getting worse or what
Any advise? Fucking black cars....

Swirls are inevitable despite all the good intentions one has to prevent them. They are more so visible on darker colors especially on NBP. The swirls on your car appear to be light by your description. Good news is they can be removed by polishing. Check out Autopia's article called "How to Polish Paint".

Black might be a little more up-keep, but nothing looks like a Black car when they're clean.
