Swirl Marks

Back when i got my car in the summer i didnt have any swirl marks in my paint. But when i wash it now i can see some swirls marks. I was wondering how these got there cause i only wash my car by hand or touchless washes. Could it be my drying towels or somethin? I havent tryed z-5 yet, only z-2 but i think i'll order 2 bottles for the spring/summer.

Thanks

likely from materials used to wash and dry . . .

it happens unless you are anal about what you use . ..

there are some choices to help wash and dry with less chance of swirling . .

things like the wash mitt - or towel you cut up, sponge whatever - can cause it - - -
how and what you use to dry . . .

send me ure email addy and Ill send you my zaino user guide that provides some suggestions and choices on what you could use . . i'll only send it if you ask - no spamming . .

sponge or towel...i use the CA water blade to limit my swirlies and lambskin sponge with many holes so dirt can escape and not stay in the sponge only to scratch the finish next time i wash...i'd suggest the CA WaterBlade or The Absorber to dry the car...but make sure u keep all yer equipment clean (i make sure the CA blade is clean after every pass...i thoroughly rinse my sponges out after i'm finished, etc.)

also, the method u wash yer car may b at fault...make sure u always start from the top and work yer way down...leave the most soiled areas to last since as u wash, there's greater chance some dirt could get lodged on the surface of the sponge, and u'll at the very least b limiting the exposure to any scratches to those low-lying areas (think of it like damage control)

keep in mind Z5 is only a filler, NOT a remover...stuff like 3mSwirl Remover and the mystery Zaino stuff coming out soon will b more permanent removing

Is 3M Swirl Remover compatible w/ Zaino products (like if I use the 3M and then do a Z2)?

it's not that it's "compatible"...use the 3M on any wax job, and u'll b stripping it down...i did a Dawn wash after i 3M'ed just to get residue off before Z2'ing again

You need to remove the oils and fillers that SMR leaves on the paint prior to using Zaino. Like Scooter said, wash it down with Dawn and you'll be good to go.
