!!! Swirl marks !!!

so im the manager of a high end detail shop----and this week so far has been an amazing week for me

i did a full detial on a--> 1. 2010 aston martin DB9 ( gray )
2. 2011 audi r8 ( black )
3. 2009 bentley ( white )
4. 2009 ferrari f 430 ( black )

i just find it absolutley disgusting how a dealership can sell cars like that with SWIRL MARKS in the paint

the customers that have AUDI and FERRARI told me they just got the cars from the dealership 1 week ago---and thats how they got them ---WITH SWIRL MARKS

its funny though cuz they came in for a basic hand wash and i sold them on a exterior---FUN FOR ME !!! about 3 hrs later after buffing 1 car i got all the swirl marks out

FUCK I LOVE MY JOB !!!!

i just gotta figure out how to upload pics so i can show you guys !!

Hey this isn't totally related to your original post, but it has to do swirl marks!

http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Swirl.../dp/B0009KJ1MY

^^^
I want to use that to hopefully get rid of some light swirls I have in my ASM TL. Questions to you are 1) Does it work? and 2) Is it safe to apply as the first coat after a complete wash and clay bar?

Thanks.

me personally----i never used it---but its for swirl mark removal---so im sure it does

if ya use a buffer with a black polising pad----i start at 1rpm to spread the polish then up to 2rpm and do a 2ft x 2ft section at a time----then go back down to 1rpm and go over that section again to make sure theres no swirl marks

good luck and if ya follow those steps i mentioned---i guarentee you WILL NOT have no swirl marks

keep us updated man !!!!

You got rid of all the swirls on a car after having it for only 3 hours? Or do you mean 3 hours of compound/polishing?

You polish out swirl marks with a PC and never go above 2K on the dial with a black pad? Wow.

Those cars must have wicked soft paint.

I was just about to say that. I use the black pad to apply my first coat of sealant or glaze.

You're claiming black pads can get rid of ALL swirls? In Audi's notoriously rock hard paint, and Ferraris that seem to come standard with buffer trails and sanding marks?

I call , at least until you post pictures. Open a photobucket or flickr account.

with todays technology there is no excuse for not uploading pictures when making a thread like this.

every one knows or should know about photobucket/flickr.
it should be required to post pictures when creating a bragging thread.

I think a test should be given to new(er) members to see if they know how to upload pictures.

I'm not saying I don't believe the OP but these types of threads are getting stupid now.

Someone makes a claim of some sort --> we don't believe that person and ask them to post pictures --> they say they don't know how to upload pictures --> then the flame war starts.

I think some of the problem is the people in the know recognize that the common blue and black pads have little to no cut or correction ability.

Totally agree.

But we all know where this thread is going if the OP doesn't show pics of his black pads removing the swirls off a Ferrari or Audi...

You can do that. Then, from the bottom of each pic, copy the link the IMG tags into the thread reply box.

We see with some frequency people saying things about exclusive cars, lifestyles, etc, that they can't back up. Eventually many are shown to be poseurs and/or liars. Forgive the peanut gallery's skepticism.

The only way to save yourself from is to post pics.

Let me clarify...

YOUR pics.

I recommend taking new ones with an AZINE sign, hand written, in the picture.

Bacon or a stick of margarine will suffice.

I agree...I would really like to see the "black pads" that will correct paint in 3 hours...Seeing as a typical correction for me takes upwards of 6 hours to do...Because if I can find some of these glorious black pads that cut like an orange/green pad and takes the time of a compound only I will triple my side hustle...
