Swirl marks

I just got my '07 TSX about a month ago and I decided to wash it last night. This morning when I turned on the lights in the garage and got up really close to the paint I saw some light swarls. I don't really know if I did it or the dealer. I used Meguiar's Deep Crystal wash and a microfiber mit. After I finished washing the car, I used an absorber to dry it. Could I have caused these very light swirls? I did try some Meguiar's scratch X (one quick app.) and it seemed to help some. Could I be doing anything wrong? Oh btw my car is carbon grey. Thanks for the info.

A similar question/thread was asked last week and it should answer your question.

Are you using the 2 bucket method? are you using up/down motions or going in circles with the wash mitt? carbon grey is pretty close to dark color so swirls are much more noticeable. Id stay away from the absorber if necess. Id use microfiber towels to dry or the WAFFLE WEAVE.

The 2 bucket method....hmmmm...what is that? Thinking back I probably do both a combo of circles and up/down. For some reason I am thinking the up/down method is better.

I am heading over to Autozone today and get some new supplies. My microfiber mit is kinda old. I will pick up some microfiber towels and maybe even a waffle weave. We only go around this crazy world once.

I just traded a black CL and swore I would never own a dark color car again... then I saw Carbon Grey

Try doing the bottom 1/3 of the car with a different mash mit/bucket, as it tends to collect the most dirt. I wash the top 2/3, then swap out for an older wash mit and do the bottom third. This way I am not transferring the dirt from the bottom of the car to the rest of the car between rinses of the mit.
