Suggestions for a foam gun?

Hey guys, I think I want to pick up a foam gun to add to my arsenal. The question is, which one should I look at? Ive seen those powered by a normal hose, those that are powered by an air compressor (which I have) , and those that require a pressure washer (which I dont have).

Which would you guys recommend?

I purchased an Autogeek foam cannon for my karcher power washer and I love it. Since you do not have a power washer I would recommend this foam cannon designed for air compressors.

foam gun/foam cannon separate things I believe.

If you want to go the very simple route, I have a Gilmour that I got from Amazon. Attaches to a normal hose.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Y190WE

I would say it's nice to have and works "alright" but I really don't use it often. If you are looking to completely cover the car in nothing but foam that actually sits on the car, I wouldn't get the Gilmour. It does produce decent foam, but nothing like a foam cannon.

It's kind of like "runny" foam in my experience (if that makes sense). I was using it with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash

I had a pic of my car covered using the Gilmour, if I can find it I will post

^ Makes sense. The reviews Ive read on the Gilmour seem split.

Ill see if I can find a power on the cheap. If not, Ill just go with the air powered gun posted above.

Any other suggestions?

Hmmm. I respect your viewpoints, so I may just use the $100 or so on other cleaning supplies

If you want to try a cheap one do s asearch on threads I started .. I made my own ... I have also tried a couple and I find unless the conditions are ideal the foam dries to fast to be useful. You need cool temp and full shade.

Full shade I can do.

Cool temps? Yea.......

Ill just save the cash for some more cleaning supplies instead. I dont need a foam gun per se, I just thought it might make my job a bit easier. However I try to wash my car every week or so, so a foam gun is probably overkill.

Damn you voice of reason :shakesfist:

Very very true! I have only used it very early in the morning before it gets too hot. Definitely will dry quick

If you wash your car that often, you shouldn't really "need" it. It will just add extra time to the wash process

Every week a good ONR once over, followed by some QD and I'm good. Throw in my Four Star UPP every now and then...all set

Gilmour give you best value/$ but like others the foam does not last that long

It really doesn't serve too much purpose. It adds to your soap consumption and makes the car white. Foam cannon is something cool to have but not essential. I bought one because it's fun to foam a car.

Less chance of scratching. Even if it was dried , would not cause water spots. A quick wipe and it's gone. Easier to clean. According to Adam I believe.

I think it's worth it. Buy it.

This is more dependent on your water .. not a soap cannon/gun.
