Is this stuff any good?

When I bought my CG TSX, the dealer gave me free samples from a company called First Place Finish. There's a bottle of "exterior renwer" that the directions say should go on every six months. There is no list of ingredients and the company's website is useless. What is this stuff (acrylic?), and is it any good?

I also have a nice bottle of turtle wax. Which should I use?

I'd use neither... Turtle Wax will work, but it's average at best, and you can't really be sure what the First Place Finish is (I've never heard of it). Read up on this board to see what other people are using and what their experiences are, and then try something that suits your objectives, like Zaino, NXT, Pinnacle, etc.

Do you know what it is, though? Is it a polymer finish?

Just use Meguiars products, they are cheap enough and you know they work.

It is almost certainly a Polymer type of product, being produced by a chemical company (metrotech). I thik it would be OK to use, although I'd probably give it a pass.

Thanks, Darth! With winter here, I don't think I'll be able to wash the car well enough to wax, but when spring gets here, I probably will go out and get some polymer stuff. I wanted to know about the First Place Finish stuff because the price was good....namely, it was free!...but I dunno if I want to risk using it on my TSX.

The dealership owes me a detailing, so I may use that in the middle of winter to get the salt gone, etc. Hopefully they will add some polymer when they detail it.
