Steering Wheel Leather
Not to be anal, but my steering wheel doesn't feel as good as it used to. The leather feels too smooth and slick. I wish it felt like it was when it was new. I've cleaned it with Lexol, but it still feels the same way. Any one out there know how to make it feel "new" again? Thanks for the anticipated feedback.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to google "leatherique" to figure out where I can get some. To be clearer on my original post, I'm trying to get the leather to feel a little more supple. Currently, it is slick and a little hard.

mix up some woolite and water and get a towel wet and wring it out and wipe your wheel down with that...i know what you are talking about, mine is the same way...if you look at a brand new one its dry and flat looking, now mine is shinny and slick....i dont think you can do much for that...

You will also find leather responds and appears differently in cooler climates. Warmer weather opens the leather pores allowing more natural oils to be absorbed. Quite the reverse in cooler areas. Tends to close up, feels tighter (harder). Warmth will loosen it up. I bet you can tell when the suns been on it for a while? Feels great, but first thing in the morning its all cold and hard?

I'll try out the woolite trick. As previous posters have said, it is much nicer when it is warm out side. Obviously speaks to the truth of the variability and how the leather behaves. Not withstanding of this, I've got 5 months of crappy weather ahead and know that it is going to be hard and slick. Woolite is definitely worth a try. Thanks for the advice.

Sticky leather surface - (i.e. steering wheel, gear shift, etc) body oils (or sun-tan oil) mixed with road dirt from the a/c could be the cause or an oil-based product as used; use a Leather Master™ Leather Degreaser (check for colour fastness) this aerosol product is ideal for cleaning oily stains; it dissolves and removes oil and grease from leather surface. This cleaner can be applied for cleaning all types of leather
