Severe Oxydization, Ultimate compound?

hey everyone,
I was wondering will meguiars ultimate compound do any good on this kind of paint damage? I will be buffing by hand.. If not any recommendations or tips on what can help this? thanks




p.s. how can i restore the black trimming? (can be seen in first photo)

You're clear coat is gone man. That damage is very bad, probably been painted before. You just need to repaint it. Even if you did attempt to make it look better, by hand is not going to do much. You need a cutting compund, but it will never look good.

agreed. clearcoat failure. no amount of buffing is going to make it better. you need a repaint.

yeah i think it has been repainted before also because I noticed the bumper had some over spray. How much would an average paint job be to paint it back to factory spec paint? & can a auto paint shop paint just the roof or the whole car has to be painted?

depends how rampant the clear coat failure is.

a good shop can match the paint to the rest of the car.

roof respray....$500...guessestimate. whole car...how good do you want it to be?

Try to see if there's a place that'll do the whole car if you sanded down the paint yourself. One of our members did that and saved himself a lot, yes it did take him a while and did drive his car looking all fucked up, but in the end was worth it.
