Scratches on my trunk

so i went to the dealer to get tighten fuel cap fixed on my car and when they brought it out it was all shiny and looking good. I took it home and the next day saw a bunch of scratches on my trunk. vertical kinda light scratches. I called the manager, he said he would be able to buff em out. wtf? why did they even ruin it in the first place. the stupid tech probably left his tools on my trunk and it made scratches everywhere while working on the tighten fuel cap / purge valve issue. Anyways, the manager said he can try to buff it out, but if it needs more work, he's going to have to talk to his manager (wtf). Will buffing it out take care of it? I'd post pictures but you can barely see anything from the pictures because you can only see the scratches from an angle and up close.

I have a sign in my glove box "DO NOT WASH!!!" I also tell the service advisor the same thing. This is why .. those lines are made from the shop kid washing your car with a dirty brush. Last thing he washed was the wheels on some 4x4 they just did an oil change on.

That will buff out... but I wouldn't let the dealer do it.
You might end up with a bigger mess. It will probably be the same lot boy with little or no experience with machine polishing.

Here is what I recommend and it will take some elbow grease but it will be effective.
Get some Meg's Ultimate Compound and a foam applicator pad. For good results, you want to apply even pressure on the applicator. You don't want to place all pressure on your finger tips.

Read the following before you start.

If you do not have the tools I would take it to a professional detailer the dealer will probably add swirls to it.
