Scratch identification help...

hey guys,
a few months back, I zainoed a friends car, an 01 monte carlo pace car edition (can't ever be repainted unless involved in an accident by NASCAR) Anyway, on his hood he had some sort of white colored scratches which sorta lookied like cotton residue, except that it was in the paint and was clearly visible. ( it was in a cirlce, sort like a bunch of swirls in just a 2x2 inch section. It was NOT swirls, but i do not know exactly what it is. I f needed, I can nab a photo of the area in question for you guys tomomorow. What can be done to correct it? (also this is the first time his car paint has be protected by a real was since 2002, it has seen 150k of highway driving as well, but has no rock chips.

A picture tells a thousand words, and can also help us determine appropriate action for whatever it is that ails "it".....

ok, just to claify, it looked like a buch of cotton fibers in a circular design in the paint. I noticed this today as i was just putting some monthly z-6 on it. It is of course in ither the wax or in the paint, i just hope its not hte paint cracking otherwise he's F***ed becuase he can't get a repaint unless it is from NASCAR and those cost 4 arms and 8 legs....

it is the worst. I stripped the wax off and it was the paint. he is trying to find out the way to get the car redone by nascar now. how do you rewax it now without damaging it more?

Waxing wont damage it anymore then it currently is. You may get some product remnants in the hairline fizzures though which may be unappealing.....In other words, it may enhance the problem, but you still need overall protection....
