Scratch help

So I have 2 problems. First off I had a deep scratch that if I ran my finger over it I could feel it was deep so I decided to use some touchup paint. Of course it being my first time using such paint on a car i messed it up and it looks well ugly. I read online about ways to remove it but figured I'd ask the experts here how to remove the touchup paint so I can try it again better.

Secondly I have found a few light scratches...s light that if you run a finger over it you feel nothing. It's more if the light catches it just right you can see it. I bought a light scratch polish thing with pads and it didn't do anything. Can anyone suggest any products or techniques to remove these light scratches?

Thanks

for the deeper scratches, assuming you have some kind of orbital buffer, you can wetsand them out and buff to restore the shine.

no orbital buffer and want to go as cheap as polish and hand buffing if possible. The deeper scratch i am just gonna reapply touchup paint. The minor scratches that are smooth to the touch is what i need help with

I would stay with a light polish and dedicated foam pads. I actually sell differing levels of abrasive hand pads (Excelerators).

My 45lb pittbull got scared and jumped on the hood of my Escalade... of course she then got scared being on the hood of my car and ran across and jumped down leaving some crazy deep scratches. A detailer friend says Meguiars Scratch X2 is what his shop uses, so I got some and it removed all the scratches. Mine were all clear coat scratches and none down to the metal, but they disappeared.

I think ScratchX and ScratchX 2.0 are very good products that don't require a polisher or buffer. Obviously incorrect techniques and applicator won't fix the problem and may even worsen the damage. You also need to have a reasonable expectation.

I bought that meguiar's stuff and an applicator pad (not sure of brand) and it doesn't do anything. Is there a pad that is recommended to use with the meguiar's stuff to remove scratches? I am not even sure if these scratches can be removed with a polish though from all I read it is not deep at all, feels smooth to the touch so must be surface. Maybe I should post a pic and you guys can give me an opinion.

the question is really about how deep the scratch is. If it is past the clear coat entirely, if it is all the way down to base metal, etc.

Those kinds of products are meant for specific situations. We need pics, maybe that would help us figure out what kind of scratch it is. Maybe.
