Question Salt on carpet floor mats

Hey all,

Since spring is here, and it's time to do some major spring cleaning, I have a question some of you might be able to answer better than me.

I have some salt residue on my floormats and some of the carpeting leftover from winter, and I'm wondering what is usually the best way to remove it. The area that is affected is nice and crusted up, and vacuuming only removes the loose particles, but leaves a nice white tint to my carpet. I thought about carpet cleaning, but I'm not sure if this will ruin the material. Any suggestions?

I haven't dealt with salt stains but I have had good results with Eimann Fabrik Carpet and Fabric cleaner. I got it at Classic Motoring Accessories (www.properautocare.com), it's about 8 bucks and they sell a Carpet and Mat Scrub brush and the two together work great (in my experience). Didn't ruin the material in my BMW M3. Other then that I don't know what to say because I'm not too sure if this can remove salt residues.

Hm, I'll have to give it a try. Thanks! I'll let you guys know how things turn out.

You're right for sure, tony4311, I'll have to invest in the rubber mats for next year. I figured I would have laid some brown grocery bags on the floor, but that doesn't exactly look very classy :P

I got raped by the dealer for $200CDN for the all weather mats but they're well worth it. I really had no choice since I picked up my TSX in the middle of winter.
