Safe to carpet clean the trunk?

2001 CLS

Since using a carpet cleaner can leave a little moisture under that rug type deal in our trunks, is this a concern? (Trunk lining) Reason i ask is on top of the gas tank sit's that unit that helps send the gas. <can't recall name of part.

I'm assuming NO moisture is meant to contact it.

Everything is sealed so i wouldnt worry about anything getting hurt. Personally id just take the carpet out of the trunk, clean it outside of the trunk then let it dry outside of the trunk.

Another vote on just removing the carpet, unless you have a wet/dry shop vacuum.
