Rotor rust

Hello,

As you guys probably noticed, every time the car is washed, a thin layer of rusts appears all over the rotors. It disappears after some breaking, but I was wondering if there's anything I can do to the rotors to prevent that? Is there a magical anti-rust product out there I can apply to the rotors that will not intefere with braking?

Thanks.

Your magical anti-rust method would be to wash your car without water. It'll always happen, but goes away after braking, so why worry? Not much you can do.

I find it only really happens when the brakes are warm. Trying doing it on a cool car.

Well, you could stop the rust from forming by painting the rotors to protect the brake disc, but that would impede the way your brakes were designed to be used.

The rust is natural, after washing, just take the car for a spin around the block and the breaks will look fine.

Well, of all the cars I owned (Honda, Infiniti, Subaru, etc.) , the Acura is the only one which the rotors rust that much after being washed. So I'm just surprised that this would happen. Like I said, I know the rust disappears after braking, but in this day and age, is too much to ask for non-rusting rotors...

I detail cars, and they all rust, hell my 3,000 baer brakes rust if warm and washed like that.

It's bare uncoated metal, what do you expect. There would be no way to treat them to prevent this that I know of as the treatment would just be worn off after you brake. And the technology it would take to make a rotor that's fully rust proof doesn't sound cost effective.

Dood, all factory rotors are CAST IRON. So, until we start mining a planet thats made of titainium, thats the way its going to be.
