rock chips

i just got a 1998 cl and so far i love it. my car is black and you know how that goes, you can see every flaw on the body. i have some pretty severe rock chips on my hood (not too deep though) and else where. what would you guys suggest to cover those up. i also have a problem with water spots. i heard acid helps.

I have brand new, only 2 months old 2002 CLS. The paint really sucks, there are already 2 small rock chips... one soooooo deep you can see the metal underneath

water spots ? well acid (sorta) works . . .

its white vinegar on a cloth . .. vinegar is acid right ?

remove any wax - (blue liquid dawn d/w soap) - then in theory the water spots are exposed . . . white vinegar may work well for you... wash the car again after you are done.

if they dont do well enough for you - then the next least abrasive step is a claybar -

the water spots are simplt the mineral deposits left behind by the dried water - so they are on the surface - not in the clearcoat. (normally)

after that, well you are talking abrasives if they are still there . . .
and you have to decide if they are bad enough for that - or whether you want to do it yourself . . . or take it to a detailing shop.
