REVIEW: Meguiars Ultimate Protectant

Turned in a battery for a $5 credit and decided to give this stuff a go today from advanced auto.
They have it on sale for 7.99, so it was 2.99+tax for me with the battery credit.

Prior to this I was using the black magic matte finish stuff, but I never got the impression the TL dash was actually absorbing it.

Here is a pic of it on the left side of the door.

This stuff has a sheen. So if you want matte, look elsewhere.
I prefer matte, but I also wanted something to bring back the darkness of the black interior.

This stuff smells and comes out like sun screen. I could totally think it was sunscreen and apply it onto my skin. I would not know the difference.
The sheen is not LIQUID, but it's noticeable and a bit excessive for my tastes.
I do like how it darkened up the black of my interior.

One positive point is, a LITTLE bit goes a long way, I was spitting out pea size dabs, and that would treat half the door trim strip in the pic.

Here is what the passenger side dash looks like afterwards.

I'm on the fence if I would buy it again. Mainly because it shines more than I like.

I do like how a little of it goes a LONG way. The smell is EXACTLY like sunscreen, so I find that tolerable.

I also like how it darkens up the interior.

Protection? Claims to last for weeks, I'll see.

If it had less sheen I'd buy it again I think.
On sale it's 7.99, normal price I think it's 9.99. Still cheaper than 303.

I've used it before it's very oily just don't make the mistake of hitting the leather with it!!

It's definitely streaky, takes a bit of going over to smooth it out. Since a little pea dab goes far, I spray it on the MF towel and wipe to prevent it from landing anywhere.

Thanks for the review.

With most interior protectants that leave a glossy/shiny finish, a quick buff with a second microfiber towel will tone down the shine.

It is a TAD too shiny for my liking as well, but as I was driving today. The interior really speaks with DEPTH now. The black interior has really come to LIFE where before it was MUTE and sterile.
I think as time goes on, I may grow to be content with it despite the low/mod level of shine.

I have not tried overbuffing it to see if it can be dulled, that may help achieve a lower gloss and maintain the DEPTH of color.

In not so sunny weather, it looks FANTASTIC, in direct sun I'm no too fond of it.

It does look like the sheen could be toned down a bit with a dry MF towel - after it's applied to the dash.

I like it-it looks like it came off the showroom floor.

I actually applied it to the leather steering wheel wrap. Seems to work well. Did something happen with your leather?

Great write up! Thanks for sharing...
Lucky for me, my dash is cracked anyway and my suede cover keeps my dash from looking too shiny.

Any of you guys try 303 Aerospace Protectant on your dash? I always used it on my 3G. Not too shiny. No oily feel. Great protection! Never had a crack in the dash and it even concealed the airbag outline on the dash. It's also good on the seats.

Can't say enough good about it.

I use Aerospace 303 on my dashboard for around 8 or 9 years now and I like it a lot.
I just started using it on my head light and tail light plastic lens for uv protect properties. The previous use I left too much on and it fogged with a layer of film that plastic cleaner wasn't working well to clean it up. It cleaned up well with a reapplication of 303 though.

Yeah...I guess the dash in some 3g TLs were just destined to go bad. One of the common failures of that breed, I suppose.

Just to update on the longevity of this product.
The areas that I have not touched or handled still have the product on them visually.
The door handle areas where I touch daily, are starting to show the product wearing off.
So for my daily handled spots, 2.5 weeks.
The areas that have not been touched have reduced in sheen but the product is still going strong.
$/oz, this product is pretty darn good. Very little was necessary to apply and it lasts pretty long.

NP fellas, just sharing the joy I'm having with this product. I have also been using it on the exterior, like the roof trim, the wiper area, sunroof moulding etc...

Sunroof moulding still looks pretty black, seems to have lost 40% of it's luster. It has rained a few times since I applied it. I can snap some pics tomorrow when the sun is out.

When you run out use the chemical guys, leather conditioner on all the same parts of the interior you hit, smells amazing and gives a new look without the greasy spoon affect.
