Removing Salt From Mats

I am trying to get rid of salt that is stuck since winter. I have tried taking a hard and rough brush and tried scraping it and then using OXY clean but its still there.

What products/methods/tools do you guys use to get rid of salt that is stuck to your mats?

If theyre rubber backed, just hose them off! Then use (after drying) a traditional automotive carpet cleaner. Vacuum thoroughly.

Road Salt-:
Use a stiff brush to dislodge any loose road salt and then remove with a vacuum, spray the area with a carpet cleaner and let it soak in, the salt stains are highly alkaline once mixed with water, so I'd reach for an acidic product to counteract/neutralize.

You might find that rinsing with a solution of vinegar /water helps. Repeat until most of the stain has been lifted. Finally clean carpets by spraying the area with a carpet shampoo rinse and then remove with a carpet extractor.

Using the vacuum / extractor, remove the excess moisture, loose dirt and the grime, allow carpets / mats to thoroughly dry before use, and then apply a fabric protection (303TM High Tech Fabric Guard) Be aware that once you add water to salt it becomes corrosive, so take care to dry the affected area thoroughly after the salt has been removed.

Kind of off topic, but you guys answered his question. How do you clean rubber all weather mats, and get them to look clean? I cleaned the salt and crud out of mine, but they look faded (essentially brand new maybe 3 months old) and still have dirt in them, I just cleaned them with dish soap though. I don't wanna use armorall or some cheap crap like that, any other suggestions for full rubber floor mats?

303 would make them look prety good. And once you use it awhile, they start looking better with each additional application. Not greasy, just fresh.

On the black rubber "all-weather" mats from Acura, I have pressure washed them with soap, then rinsed with water at the spray-it-yourself car wash - this works pretty well, takes the salt off. They generally have spring clips mounted on the wall of the wash bay to clip your mats up while you spray. After they are dry, treat them with 303, as Patrick suggested.
