Recommended Wax?

Ive had my 03 TL-S for about a year now and am not happy with the crappy wax i use to use. Anyone have any suggestions on a type of wax you prefer i would appreciate it. Has anyone used the Mecquires NXT wax and if so what do you think about it?

Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection.........If you polish/clean the paint, prior to any wax, you will undoubtedly have better results.
I didnt have very good durability with NXT when it FIRST came out......

you've asked a very broad question...but a few well rounded options (easy to use, cost effective, durability, appearance) are:

--UPP (as stated above)
--Collinite 845 (VERY durable wax...non-staining on trim, etc)
--Duragloss 105/601 combo

a final tip...whatever you end up with, pick up some Duragloss Aquawax as well. use that every other wash or once a month and you'll be very happy.

Gotta love UPP! I also like DG 111. If you're lookin' at the FS, you may want to consider Optimum OS. X2 on the DG AW, an inexpensive and effective product. As far as NXT, some folks love it. IMO, it loses it's slickness after a wash or two and didn't appear as glossy. Other than that, it all comes down to a personal choice.

I, too love the 4* product line including the UPP liquid and spray. But, make sure you prep the surface before applying a good wax/sealant. I also have used the Pinnacle line and Griot's Garage product line with good results. Like others have said above, the Optimum line is good too. In general, wash, clay, surface correct, seal/wax and then maintain in-between washes. Finally, get yourself a good polisher if you haven't already.

The UPP and UPPS is a HARD combo to beat. UPP as a base, and UPPS monthly, is KILLER..............

I've had great results using Meguiar's NXT Generation Wax. Easy to apply & remove ! ! !

Living in Las Vegas, this wax really holds up.

Duragloss 105/Aqua Wax for me. Easy to use (easier than NXT to me) and so much better results. Oh yeah, you can get them OTC.

Similar combo that I heard was good is FS UPP/UPPS that were mentioned above.
Collinite 845 is popular, too.

I had used NXT Paste Wax, but meh... I don't think it deserves its popularity.

I've tried dozens of waxes and I always go back to NXT because it's so easy to use and the results are fantastic IMO. Who cares if it doesn't last too long as most people here are detail freaks and wax their rides every few weeks anyway. I simply love the shine and feel of a freshly waxed car and NXT has been great to me.

Used NXT on a NHB TSX (two of them actually...) Loved the look, but it only lasted two weeks at best, and the fillers made me think I was a master, till they wore off and I saw light swirls!..... Maybe NXT was the impetus to buy my PC? Thanks NXT! Haven't used it since, though.

I have had great success with the NXT. My last application lasted over 8 months before the involuntary twitching started causing me to PC the car again.

The great results were from properly preparing the surface prior to the NXT application (clay, PC with Megs #83 and/or #80). I use two thin coats of NXT liquid with a 24 hour cure in between each application. Also, using the NXT spray wax is a must about every 4-5 weeks to maintain the protection. If you are careful not to induce swirls, streaks, scratches, etc. then the NXT can easily last you 8-10 months or more.

I live out here in CA so the weather permits a long time period between applications. I rarely need to wash my car (bi-monthly during good weather months). A CA car duster (wood handle ONLY), plenty of MF cloths, and NXT Speed Detailer are my primary weapons.

Your statement implies that you did not properly remove the swirls in the first place. Personally, I would not count on fillers to hide anything. Fix the problem and then top it with the last step protection of your choice. If NXT is only lasting two weeks then your paint surface was definitely not prepared properly. You should get several months of protection with the NXT.

My on this topic. If you're satisfied and like the results of the product you're using, continue to use it. What's best for one person may not be the best to another. There are numerous products available on the market and each will have a loyal following. The bottom line is it comes down to a personal choice.

Help me understand how paint prep to remove swirls will improve the durability of a wax? The paint was cleaned with Klasse AIO by hand, so no surface contaminants preventing any "bonding". Frankly the NXT just didn't hold up in terms of shine and look for more than couple of weeks. Was it still protecting? Maybe. Is protection the only reason I apply products? No.

Additionally, I now own and use a PC, have polished the surface, used NXT one final time, and still don't feel that the product lasts as long as others I have used. For harsh climates like mine, I prefer 845IW in the summer on top of AIO/SG. Excellent look, with the legendary protection of both product lines.

Well

Thanks for all the comments, everyone has pretty much just confused the hell out of me on which product will produce the best results. guess im gonna have to try tha 4starUPP stuff next time. My only thing is, i dont ever really know when i need to wax my car. I have a company vehicle so my TL sits in the garage and i may bring it out on the weekends and put 40 or 50 miles on it then back to the garage it goes. Guess when the water stops beading up is time for me to apply a coat of wax, does that sound like a good assumption?

Holy crap, life is miserable aint it?
I would add a little Spray Wax after a wash. You should be good to go for several months at that rate....
