Quick question: polish bumper

I heard that it is dangerous to polish bumper (or other plastic parts) by PC. But I think we can still polish them, right?
I have 7424, optimum hyper compound, compound2, polish.

Question is what the differences between polishing bumper and hood et al.?
1. lower speed, say 5?
2. faster movement. how fast?
3. lighter pressure?
4. ok to use compound with orange pad (or even hyper for deep scratch)?

Thanks

the main issue is the bumper heating up while polishing/compounding and thus causing damage to the paint. I polish bumpers a bit faster with lighter pressure and a bit more speed on the PC.

Thanks. Then how fast? I usually polish with 2"/sec. For bumper, should I go with 4"/sec?

4" pads to the rescue!
I normally use a light polish like Optimum Polish or Four Star Scratch and Swirl remover.

You mean I can only use 4" pads? If so do i have to buy 4" back plates and counter weight? What I have are those for 5.5" pads.

Using OP even it has bad swirls? And not safe to use OC?

Thanks

Ever since I got my Flex, I've only used my PC7424 for spot buffing bumpers and trim where a 5.5" or 6.5" would be too big. I would get a 3.5" backplate to use with the 4" pads, I never changed out my original counterweight and have not had any issues with vibration.

OP with an orange pad can do wonders, but you can always step it up if you have too. I've used M105 on plastic bumpers w/out any adverse effects.

Hi nOrmal,

You mentioned no issues with vibration on the polisher. How much vibration is normal? I just got a PC 7424XP and at speed 6 there seems to be a lot of vibration, tough to hold on to the handle for prolonged periods of time. Is this normal?

Thanks
