Question

I just got my car buffed and waxed about a week ago and the pollen has it looking rough. I was wondering when i wash my car does that take off the wax? I have also always used a sponge with the mesh around it...will that put swirl marks on my black paint? I think its more made for bugs and stuff. My explorer was green and it didn't really show swirls. Should i get a plain sponge or a wool type mit?
thanks

Better off with a deep wool mitt. Any car soap wont take the wax off.

Use Dawn dish soap to take off the wax. Then get a clay bar at any auto store like Autozone, VIP, O'Reilly's and get car 100% clean. Then wax it the way it is supposed to be and you will be surprised how awesome it will look, it will shine so bright that people will stare driving by wondering what the hell you did to make your car so shiny. Use Meguiars NXT generation tech wax, it is best wax i have ever used and is super easy to apply and remove. Get BlackMagic wax mit. It has applicator, remover and polisher on an easy to use handle that wraps around your hand and is contoured. Then when you see swirls again just use Meguiars NXT generation booster tech wax and your car will look perfect again. Both are very easy to use, booster wax is a little easier as you can use it when car is still wet.

Please don't .. based on your first post, you just had the car buffed and waxed. Pollen will wash right off. Do not .... PLEASE do not use Dawn.
1) Get a good car wash (Meg's NXT wash is quite good)
2) Use a sheepskin wash mit (I also use the one from exceldetail)
3) Wash one panel at a time, start at the top and work down, wash in one direction only (front to back)
4) Rinse and move on to the next
5) Dry with a good waffle weave
6) Use a quick detailer with a micro-fiber

If you wash correctly you don't need to worry about swirls, if you have swirls all a booster or QD will do is hide them they won't go away without a good polishing.

Yeah i won't use dawn. You use that when you wanna get rid of the wax. I am gonna go to autozone and look through the products. This black paint has me paranoid. It looks so good and i don't want anything to happen to it. I tried claying my explorer and it took forever. I guess it did some good...the paint was 7 years old. Thanks for the help everyone

It'd be counterproductive having to use dawn so early, but good luck getting pollen off w/o clay.

man the pollen comes right off with water, a clay bar isnt needed...what are you talking about? Just a normal wash will do the trick - and only dawn or something like that will take the wax right off. The wax will come off over time, but only if you wash your car every week - even still it will take months to all come off.

What's this guy smoking? You'd think he's talking about overspray instead of simply dust.

Dude - have you ever seen this stuff??

It'll scratch your eyes out ... man that stuff is BAD ASS!!!! Clay bar'll just make it angry ... you don't want that.
In fact I wouldn't wash the car ... I'd just give it up to the pollen. You don't want to cross them .. 'specially if your in their hood!
Nahhh man .. just put the hose down and back away from the car... sometimes bein' a man means walkin away!

Slats, trust me, heavy pollen buildup(Especially during the season) can sometimes require clay. Especially if you aren't QDing every 2 or 3 days so it doesn't get out of hand. My advice is a little extreme, but this guy doesn't QD a couple times a week and I figured he was talking about heavy pollen buildup since I think it's pretty common sense a QD could be used for light pollen buildup.

the car was just buffed and then waxed. I didn't think pollen could get below the wax. I just washed it and its all gone. Man you people are confusing

by the way i think i just wanted to know what mit to use and if the wax would come off. Look what happened...lol
