Protecting Headlights

I just bought a Cert-Pre Owned 2001 CL. I was wondering if anyone knew what caused the headlight lens to cloud and turn yellow, and if there are any products that would protect them. Thanks for the help guys!

Perhaps this could help you out...

http://www.properautocare.com/plaslenclean.html

Never used this myself, but a great site. I get alot of other stuff from there and . (Poke around the other glass care products as well BTW)

How to NOT have that happen? I have the RockBlocker headlight protection kit on mine and that helps the nicks/gouges, etc.... I also recomend it.

Hope this helps.

This looks interesting but I've not tried it.

I was thinking about using 303 on the headlight lenses as UV protection. Anyone else do this?

You can use a 303 protectant to help with UV protection on the lense or the our products. A lot of people in Phoenix are using a product like ours to help keep the headlights from fading from the brutal sun we have here.

I have not had a problem with the cloudiness of the headlights, but my left head light was getting pretty well beaten up due to gravel/sand that gets put down on the roads here each winter. Right lens was just replaced a couple months ago due to a minor accident that caused the reflector to break but not the lens. This last weekend I decided to get some 40 Mil pre-cut 3M lens protectors from a tint/clearbra/sunroof place here in town. Before they put them on, they polished all 4 lights (fogs/heads) and they looked great before the protectors went on. Now it looks like both of my headlights are brand new. These protectors are the same type of material that a clear bra is made of, only a lot thicker. I figure that 100 bucks for the protectors or 400 or higher for a single headlight is worth the cost.

Glad you added the protection. Thought I would correct one thing, the light protection and the paint protection are not made from the same material. The light protection if made from high impact resistant pvc vinyl and the paint protection is made from urethane plastic. They do the same thing which is stop rocks, dirt and dust from damaging your paint or light.

I bought something similar on ebay. I didn't really have any cloudiness or yellow haze in my headlights, (they looked good to begin with) but it made them look a little more sharp and very SMOOTH to the touch. Oh baby! But yeah...
