Pray for me

At a car wash and found a living social deal for a wash and wax and got it. Upgraded to 3 a step for $35 and they said it takes 2-3 hours. Car had some spider webs after a poor wash at another car wash place. Btw I'm too busy to clean my car during school

I was like 2-3 hours?! This should take at least 6.

LOL these guys are priceless.

First the owner is like we can't do anything because the spider-webs/swirls are way too much. In my head I was like maybe if you didn't just spend 10 seconds on each panel. Literally took them 10 minutes to "buff my car". Than he says we have the BEST polish and compound and that those just enhances shine, doesn't remove scratches. And that a "swirl remover" is your only bet-- for an extra $35. Worst thing is that they blamed rock chips for the swirls. Really? Then they were like this is the best you can get from anyone cause they said that the clear coat is failing (it is not). Spent about $80 ($45 on Living Social deal than $35 extra) on this useless "detail" and tipped $15 to the guy who did it because he was honest and innocent (really tried to fix it even though he didn't know how to). There claying is basically running a clay bar when the car is wet in about a minute. I'm crossing my fingers that there is no marring/holograms. Oh well I thought maybe just maybe I could get a semi-decent detail and I was wrong. Guess I have to do this when I get off spring break and detail myself :/

And yes basically a wash and wax lol

I've wondered what those Living Social/Groupon detail specials would be like. I wouldn't have given them the extra $35.

Pics of their "detail" job?

I'm almost certain your paint is worse after the "detail". They probably ran over it with a dirty wool pad with their "awesome" polish, which is just full of fillers. Since the pad is dirty, it induced a crap load of swirls into your car but the glaze covered it all up. Once you get to properly washing it and removing the fillers, the true condition of your paint will be revealed.

You can never score a "deal" on a proper detail unless you've worked something out with the detailer themselves. These deals are just mass production hack shops. There's a reason the professionals and skilled detailers charge so much. You're paying for their expertise and time. A 3 step paint correction should be a minimum 10 hour job, I've seen many write-ups where they are 20-25 hour jobs. Take that much labor and don't expect to be paying minimum wage for their time. That will give you a good ball park of what you would be paying for a proper 3 step correction.

Yeah I think so. So far it doesn't look that way, but of course, when I wash it a couple times it will show up. Right now it doesn't look horrible or anything. They don't know how to clean the polish residue off the car. I had so much polish leftover. I'm going to wash it tomorrow and see what is the damage. And yeah the wool pad was dirty (or used wayyyy to many times). Sorry I couldn't get pictures but wouldn't see it much because I ended up getting it all dirty after trip. Usually I wouldn't pay extra, but this time I was like what the heck going to try something new (never brought any of my cars to 'detail' at a car wash place).

Was expecting everything. It was a leap of faith. They do bad, wtfever, I already buffed my car this week and it looks swirl free. I was really just expecting a wash but didn't theyd fail at that to.

Lol I feel bad for the people who don't realize they're damaging the condition of their car even more when they believe they're "helping" by getting it "detailed"

they're being scammed while thinking they got a good deal.

And another reason I did it is because I went to some place similar just for a basic car wash and it was amazing. I did not expect it to be so well done. Both places had the same concept so that is also why I did it.
