Polishing Compound?

I had some scratches on my car...so i went to acura of pasadena and bought a bottle of the NBP paint touch up, and on the directions, it says I now need a polishing compound. I don't know much about polishing and stuff...so could someone inform me of what a polishing compound is, where can I get one for the TL, and how I would ask for it wherever I need to get it....need it soon, cause my car looks as if i put nail polish on it..thanks.

Sometimes it takes several applications to "fill" the area of repair. Dont try to get it all at once. Go out and buy some Eagle One Scratch remover, when all is said and done, apply a small amt to the area, and buff with a microfiber towel. Try to keep your work area as small as possible, use only your finger for pressure.

I'm so annoyed at the cheap paint that our cars have. I have a ton of little nicks and rock chips on my hood right now - most of which have not penetrated the metal (which is good) but is still going to look nasty until I fill it in with the touch up paint. Even then it's not going to look that good since the metallic flakes will lie differently in the touched up area, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

i didn't buy the eagle one, but I did buy the touch up paint from acura..and now it looks more horrible than before..the color doesn't match and now it's thicker than original paint and it potrudes, is there any way to kinda..."sand" it down or buff it so at least it's feels like the same surface...thanks
