Polishing a 2004-2008 TL

What areas of the TL need to be taped prior to polishing with a Porter Cable (with 5 1/2 inch pads) and a light or medium polish ?

Green or blue 3M tape ?

Are 4-inch pads a necessity ?

Thanks in advance !

it doesnt matter the color tape...........as long as its painters tape. for the big areas like tail lights, you can cover them up using newspaper.

I would tape off everything that you DONT WANT TO GET POLISHED. duh....
headlights, trim, grills, etc. you're a smart guy, you can figure it out.

LOL.
nice thread btw.

If I tape any at all I just tape off any textured black plastic where it might be hard toget the polish residue out of it .. I don't tape off head/tail lights as I usually polish over them with a final polish .. I just don't go close to them if I'm using a compound & cutting pad or if I have to cut close then I'll tape.

4" pads aren't a necessity but do make it easier to get into smaller areas or apply pressure if your correcting a scatch etc.
