Smile Pointers On Detailing / Detail Kit

I've been reading through all of this section of the forum for a few months now. Summer is right around the corner and it is time once again for a new coat of wax.

I'm wondering if any of you would be willing to compile a list of supplies I would need for a pretty inexperienced detailer. Zaino has caught my fancy more than any other wax products. Everyone that uses it seems to be fairly satisfied. I would plan on washing and detailing. Clay baring and waxing and then touching up every few weeks until the next coat of wax.

If any of you have suggestions on what products IE: soaps towels and waxes should be used please feel free to let me know. I appreciate any and all help any of you can offer.

Thanks guys.

I add a third bucket to the traditional 2-bucket method. That way, I can wash the wheels and tires first and then the body from the top down. I use Griot's Garage, Four Star Ultimate, Optimum and Pinnacle products to accomplish the task. Oh, and look into a PC variable speed, dual-action polisher. It'll make the polish, wax and sealant steps that much easier.

Unless yourt car is light colored or dark colored and very well polished out Zaino isn't going to do a lot for you but give you shiney swirls.

You looking for OTC products to work with?

I don't really know if I'm looking for OTC or not. I just want what is best for my car. Help get rid of swirls, and make her shine like new. Or semi new any way.

Bump, I bought Meguiars gold car wash, Meguiars clay bar kit, and Meguiars NXT Tech Wax. I washed the entire car, and then clayed the hood. After I clayed the hood I waxed it to get a general idea of what I was doing.

Looks pretty good from what I can tell. My first real detail went okay. I will finish the remainder of the job tomorrow in the morning.

Cheers.

Thanks a bunch. If anyone else has suggestions, or anything please feel free to chime in. I still need a ton of help on the interior stuff. I use Lexol cleaner/conditioner on the leather, and that Aerospace 303 sounds like it's great for the vinyl.

Any applicator suggestions or sponge/towel suggestions welcome as well. I can use all the help you guys can muster up!!!!!

When applying 303 spray it on the applicator cloth not the dash/door. I prefer Meguiars #40 vinyl & rubber conditioner to 303 for the interior and you get 4 times as much for the same $$ and it smells like leather.

If you live close to a Costco thier microfiber towels at $10 / doz are good for wax removal.

Re wash before you start today unless the car was garage stored and still clean.
