Is the PC7424 just as good?

I was just wondering from the PROS or hardcore enthusiasts... Can the PC7424 do as good a job polishing/buffing as the other rotary machines? When would it be best to use one or the other?

It's perfectly fine, but the XP is better.

Makita makes one of the best tools in the world. Their buffers are widely used in detailing shops. Check out Makita 9227C Circular Polisher.

It has to be good for a semi novice though..... is the circular polisher paint friendly or can it potentially burn the paint? I know I seen a video here with someone using the 7424 applying a lot of pressure in one spot on 4 setting and didn't burn the paint.... Just wondering if the results wont be as good though.

Do not EVER start out using a rotary. I used the random orbital for two years and while the finished product took a while, I always got good results from it. I've had my Makita for about six months now and let me tell you, that thing demands your respect. This is how I like to put it: The random orbital is like a ranch horse: tame, obedient, and easy to get along with. The rotary is like a wild Mustang...you might get it to do what you want but in the end, it's calling the shots and you need to keep your wits about you. One wrong move and it will burn right through to the primer.

That being said, the rotary is a fantastic tool that can do pretty much anything but is a bit much for novice detailers or people just looking after their own cars. Bottom line? Start out with the PC.

The PC is the product of choice for beginners. It CAN eventually perform similar function as the rotary, but only in capable hands, with proper pad and product choices, along with a few tricks of the trade. XP is and excellent choice.

I went with the PC 7424XP and love it. I'm new to using a polisher and this one is easy to use with good results. It may take more time vs a rotary but I'm not good enough to jump directly to a rotary. Just my 2 cents.
