Paste vs Liquid vs Spray wax

what are the differences between these different wax forms? I am guessing the Paste offers better protection than both the liquid and spray? Is there a wax that actually removes swirls/fine scratches rather than just fill them in?

No wax can remove swirls as there are no abrasives in them. Only polishes can do that for you.

I believe the difference is that there are more petroleums in liquid and spray waxes. Not really a bad thing I guess, but I've used Optimum spray wax and I just dont get the same results as I do with a paste wax like S100. So what I do, is I apply S100 and upkeep it for a few months with Optimum. That works for me...

Proper observation Joe, with one exception. Some spray waxes, like Optimum Spray Wax, and AquaWax by Duragloss, offer Polymers in addition to Nubas for looks and protection. The only true sealant I can think or (Or that I offer) which will sustain better protection then a paste wax (Of hi quality) is put out by Four Star. There Ultimate Paint Protection Spray is one product Im not afraid to use, as a base sealant.
The other two references above are good, but better when used atop a sealant or paste wax.
The other two, according to my readings as well as observations will outlast most Nubas in protection, but just dont provide the lasting slickness a Nuba intially provides. There great, and so much easier as well as economical, sometimes it just doesnt make sense to use anything but a spray sealant. I mean you can do your entire car in under 10 minutes,vs., maybe a 1/2 hour with a paste.

The only thing I have ever used spray wax for is to dry the car easier lol. I like the liquid Zymol wax.

Paste is more durable and longer lasting than liquid. as far as scratch removal, you would need a mild polish/compound to get them out, which in turn shaves a little clearcoat off but not to the effect you need to worry. try scratch-x for light scratches, if its very deep and you can run your fingernail on it, you would need touch up.
