Paint Sealant and Newly Refinished Wheels
Is it okay to apply paint sealant on newly refinished(painted not powdercoated) wheels?
I'm getting tires mounted tomorrow and want to start protecting them before I start driving on them.
TIA.

I would treat them as i would any painted surface and give them at least 30 days before sealing them up. I say 30 opposed to 45/60 as wheels tend to get warm after a rather brief period. This warming and cooling helps the surface expel the paints chemical makeup.

That sounds good! Then wash with just carwash soap and water. The heat from the brakes etc will eat up the wax and sealant much faster than on the cars paint so reapply often. Avoid the wheel cleaners if you can as they are pretty harsh and will also eat away your jetseal/Collinite.

i don't like wheel sealants i feel as though they dont last to long.
i usually use Klasse SG on them. right before i put my rims on for the summer and winter since i have two sets i clean them real good and apply 3-5 coats on them. the resist water and brake dust and cleaning them is not had since the brake dust doesn't stick at all.

I'd put UPP or 105 up against any wheel sealant, any day.

Im tellin you guys, use whatever it is you have. Anything claiming to be a sealant, and is a NUBA, your probably not getting your moneys worth. I think we all know by now that nubas do not stand up ito heat very well. Your best source for a wheel protectant should come in a liquid form. Just use what you have in your arsenal, use it wisely, use it frequently and you will be fine.

Exactly what I do ... and have for years ... Matter of fact my daughter just bought a set of 18"s for her Camaro and they are in my basement right now waiting on the second layer of SG.
And Patrick is right , your way better off using any sealant over a "branded" wheel wax as it will last longer and is layerable.
The mentioned Nu Finish is great for wheels if you have nothing else.

Optimum Poliseal worked wonders on my stock wheels. I ordered some Poor Boys Wheel Sealant for my new rims going on in the spring
