first of all, make sure the shop does great job. u can get the hood painted for <$500 at cheap places, but just know that you get what you pay for. The quote u got may be high, but it may be worth it. I learned my lesson by taking my car to cheap shop n got a really bad paint job. you should check w/ ur insurance or AAA for a list of shops they recommend..then u can start shopping for prices
