Optimum OptiSeal

Its been a while since I had used this product, so I thought I would give it another opportunity to blow my socks off. When I have time, after a nice wash and detail, I like to compare products on my daily driver. You wouldnt believe all the product lines and manufactures who have contribued to my sickness. As mentioned, It had been a while since my last opportunity with Optimum Optiseal. I thnk it was early summer on this Porsche..........

I had really forgotten how easy it was to use. I kind of adapted my own technique revised from trial and errors with the manufacturers directions. I originally tried using it with the included applicators, a light spray to the app, and a light spray to the cars body. But the pump spray atomizes the product so fine, it ended up drifting on me. So I initially ended up just applying it to the app. I couldnt help but notice some streaking when I was finished, which was easily resolvable with a MF mit wipedown.
After speaking with Optimums chemist and owner this afternoon, he now recommends using a microfiber towel as part of the application process. I told him, "David, I knew that all along"..........
So,
OS is even easier now. Simply spritz a few pumps of OptiSeal on your MF Mitt, wipe the surface, and walk away. You will be left with about the purest source of Polymer Protection you will even come across. And with all the talk about winter protection as of late, I just wanted to share......This is Optimum best protectant to date!
I also expressed my extreme interest in the development in a cream type protectant from Optimum. We will see !!
Optimum technologies has a few new items they are working on, you folks will be the first to learn of them once i get the ALL CLEAR whistle!.
I can tell you, the new Wheel Cleaner s phenomenal!! And the revised Spray Wax is a little stronger with Polymers!
More later!!

OK, I am going to make a parent pick which child he likes better!

If I were shopping for a Polymer Protectant (I am), and my list consisted of the following two (it does), which would you recommend?

1. 4 Star UPP
2.Optimum Optiseal

Ease of application is slightly less important that result and durability.

Also, I *MAY* top with a carnuba if I get the itch to 'warm' up the polymer a bit with some depth. Not sure if that matters for the decision.

Buying both is clearly the right choice.

What is the cost per each?
How easy is each product to get off?
Durability?

The OptiSeal is about $25.00, two apps and a MF mit. And a little goes a long way. The bottle itself would serve the car for the entire average ownership period......(5 years)
UPP, around $21.+. probably 3 years of protection. Both cheap for preservation.
Eash product is nearly effortless in removal and application. (Two of the easiest I have used)
Durability is excellent......for both.

+1 the FS UPP. The results are excellent. Very slick, wet look. Durability is also amazing. I last put a coat on in early August and I have people comment that I must have just waxed my car after I give it a wash. Water still beads extremely well when it rains. Just my as I have never used the OS. Maybe I will get some for the upcoming detail

No worries. I will give the 4* a shot, and wait for a while on the Optimum.

I know this thread is about Optimum OptiSeal, but I've personally used FS UPP on the TL (among other vehicles since purchasing my UDM). I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with the results and ease of use when it comes to FS UPP

Btw, I use Optimum Polish (new formula) on the TL and it seemed like a great product, although I have nothing to compare it against really...

Is this the same as Ultima Paint Guard Plus? Currently I'm using it on my TL and love it.

Ive never used Ult PGP, so i couldnt say. Im sure there are some similarities though. In case you came in a little late and didnt read, the Ultima line is manufactured by the same company as UPP..........

I probably will. I buy the labels from Optimum to keep it legite though. He allows me to rebottle. I was actually buying the 4oz products from Optimum but they authorized me to go ahead and package/label myself. All I have to do is cover up the 32oz with a 4 or 8 oz sticky.

No not 20%. Just the acurazine 10%. Im usually a little cheaper then all the rest to begin with. I actually just raised my prices a little on some products after gong through the Geeks site. I had noticed I was about $4.00 cheaper for NRWS then they were.

WHAT. u shoulda kept it the same

you can drive more business if your margin is good still. at least not match the price heh.

Lusid, as a distribution point, Im obligated to not be a "scalper" with price tables. I certainly wouldnt want AG undermining my prices. We as a retail community have to rely on other business aspects for success. Price alone will not make a company profit or be successful. It certainly help having the lowest price, but thats just part of the business.

I will second Pat's comments about price not being the only concern. I, for one, could care less if a product at site "A" costs $4 more than at site "B" if I get astoundingly good customer service and support from "A" and "meh" service from "B." For me, personal attention is the #1 thing a retailer can do to earn my business.

Keep up the good work Patrick.

So just a few pumps of the spray on a MF mitt is enough for the whole car?

Doesn't it dry/run out towards the end?

Just apply a few spritzes to the microfiber mitt for each panel.

Ok i am interested in a sealant but for right now after wash and clay, i use 1z paintpolish then 1z glans wax. I was wondering how a sealant like UPP would fit into this line up if needed at all...thanks in advance for the help!

The PP has some protection, then to top with the 1Z GW, your sitting pretty good.....unfortunately, 1Z has Nubas in there protectants, so topping with UPP wouldnt be the best idea......
You may want to stay with 1Z for now, and add the Lackfinish after the next Glanz treatment. They work very well together.....

I finally had a chance to use OptiSeal. Two weekends ago I did my fall (ok, late fall, don't laugh) wash/clay/polish/seal. Its amazing how slick and smooth the surface feels, and the car looks great. I think I was applying it a little too thick, its really hard to gauge in the application and its hard to believe that so little product makes such a big difference. Now I'm just going to maintain it with a little Optimum Spray Wax after every wash. So far I'm really happy with it, thanks for turning me onto this product.

Washed and then applied a layer of Optimum Spray Wax this past Friday. Needless to say, it looked great.

Went to San Diego for the weekend where the TSX was attacked by some birds, a couple of bird bombs on the trunk, one on the roof, and several spots that looked like dried bird pee. I simply hosed off the car when I got home and all the bird excrement was gone without any etching. I attribute this to the layers of protection provided by the Optimum products. The surface feels super slick, no wonder the bird droppings slid right off when hit with water spray.

I'm so glad I've been reading this Wash & Wax section and thanks to exceldetail for his posts about the Optimum line. Never would have heard of them if it wasn't for this place.
