One way NOT to clean your car..

I was at the gas station today and watched a older man "wash" his entire TL with one of those car squeegees. windows, hood, top of trunk... I almost wanted to walk over there and ask him to stop.

Since that fluid has stuff in there to get bugs off of the windshield, the fluid is very base. Sort of like your industrial strength degreasers. What he's doing is stripping the wax off of the paint. After that is all gone the stuff starts eating away at the clear coat.

I use that thing on the front of my car.

That's the beauty of the clear bra!

As for the fluid being dangerous... it's usually just dirty, soapy water.

Do you think somebody can get dirty bug splats off of a windshield with a sponge and squeegy that is hooked onto the end of a plastic bar?
It does take quite a bit of effort even with a wash mitt and soap and water if the bugs have been on there a while. But with the stuff at the gas stations, it comes off quite easy. Give it a smell next time, it doesn't smell anything like soap.
