my friend washed his car with dish washer detergent.
he said nothing wrong.

is it true?
i heard it kills clear coat and paint.

Dish soap or dishwasher "detergent"? Dishwasher detergent contains "lye" (sodium hydroxide) which is a caustic chemical. Dishwasher detergent also contains a high level of chlorine. Both of these chemicals will prematurely age just about anything, with frequent use.
Neither of these household products, are recommended for automobile cleaning.

bad move on his end. Dont follow suit, just read the forums and do the job correctly.

Dishwash soap = for dishes only and never should be used on cars as it strips wax and other various things.

 

ask your friend if he puts turtle wax car wash in his dishwasher?!?!
