no Zaino, no Meguiars NXT, what's another good wax
Ok, I am determined to get the wax job done this weekend. I don't have time for the Guru Reports comparo to get mailed, Zaino isn't sold in stores, and I don't think the Meguiar's NXT line is available in Canada yet (idiots). What's another good wax to use. What are the new polymer type products that would compete with NXT. I could probably get the Zymol but experiences shared in here have been mixed. I don't want to pay all that money for 3M if it placed 26th out of 46 and it's old technology.

Blackbird baby..
Try Blackfire.. the pics don't do it justice since it was cloudy that day but it turned out awesome. I got several comments from just random people.. "Is that custom paint", etc.

Yeah, that's what I ended up buying. Not that this 3M is a cutting edge wax technology or anything. I couldn't find Classe or Blackfire in this city. In about five hours I got three out of four of the following applied:
1. Fine Cut Rubbing Compound 39002
2. Swirl Mark Remover for Light Coloured Cars 39109 (this one was probably overkill)
3. Hand Glaze 39007
4. Show Car Paste Wax 39526
Rubbing compound was the worst to get off. That rubbing compound might have been aggressive enough to have an anti-orange peel effect, I'm not sure.

You may want to have someone do a professional buffing on that paint to give you a clean start.

Rear bumper was freshly painted by me, I was trying to remove the last trace of orange peel after having sanded it. Decided I might as well do the whole car if it's worth using rubbing compound on the bumper. I couldn't believe how good the bumper looked after I brought the gloss back up. There's crystalline silica in that stuff, and that's why it's tough to remove.
The car itself had poplar tree sap damage.. and the rubbing compound didn't remove all the scratches that I thought it would. I ended up picking off the sap spots with my fingernail.
I've got a cordless Simoniz buffer/applicator, 4 inch or so (gutless) and a corded Wen 10 inch (better but not for tight areas)
Current problem is it rained after the glaze went on.

Still not done.. I can only do so much glazing in one day or I wreck my back. One thing I learned, 3M products are definitely not for the impatient. I read somewhere one can layer glaze and wax for a really good shine. I'd recommend the machine glaze instead of the hand glaze to save one's sanity.. best purchase was a 10 inch random orbital buffer I think it's more important than the wax choice as I knew the only polymer available was the Turtle Wax one (do the US manufacturers not have the patience to provide packaging in French for Canadians or something). The other thing I realized is there's only so much one can do.. not every scratch disappeared even after four product applications, I mean the thing is six and half yrs. old
