New Paint

My car got into a fight with a Ford F-150 and its gonna get new hood and bumper and some paint. Here's the question...one of my friends said that I should wait a few weeks before i wax it to let it cure and harden. Have any of you heard of such a thing or have any advice regarding this? Thanks!

yes, u need to wait before washing and waxing...a few weeks is ideal...the paint needs to set in and dry

since yer in Canada, u may need a little more time...perhaps another week or so, just in case

Talk to your body shop. I was at a shop recently that uses heat lamps to cure the paint. It really depends on how the paint is/is not cured.

I know this thread has been dormant for a few days, but I couldn't help myself. I have been painting cars for years. That is absolutely not true!!! Modern day base coat, clear coat paint jobs cure in less then 24 hours. If they are baked, which all reputable shops do, they are cured in 4 hours or less. You can wash them, wax them, or even pour gasoline on them and you will not harm the finish.
