Never Waxing again!

So over the weekend after i clayed and polished i used 4 star UPP for the first time.

WOW what a difference it is to put on and take off then wax. its SOOOOOO much easier. last time i waxed it took me ALOT of elbow grease + time.

i can never go back to waxing again.

also IMO i think the car looks better with 4star UPP then with nuba wax.

UPP is quite awesome! Glad you approve. It doesnt get much easier does it?
Make sure you use a spray wax monthly to maintain UPP's base protection. Its as easy as drying the car. Simply spray on while drying for instant added protection. DG 105 or even Optimum Spray wax will maintain slickness and protection!

well sealants are supposed to last like 4-6 months.

i plan on adding 2 more coats next weekend. i only did one coat cause i was exhausted from all the polishing. also the flex 3401 is freakin awsome! i was going to go with a PC but did some research and decided to shell out the extra $ for the flex.

exceldetail, thanks for the tip

I thought you knew better then to ask that question!?
Unfortunately, each sealant has its own characteristics. Durability is also dependant on prep work, and paint cleanliness. Other variables as we know include lower southern latitude locations resulting in longer and higher U.V. exposure. Salt from ocean breezes are also destructive to both polymers and Nubas.
On average though, and Im a little critical on what I call "protection", but I dont expect more then 10 weeks of slickness with just a sealant alone in those 10 weeks.
Spray waxes, as I have been mentioning here for quite some time, allow a sacrficial layer of protection atop that base coat, apply monthly for sustained protection and slickness!!

im getting senile in my old age... but to be quite honest, im in denial... now that winter is coming soon, and i have 4 cars to prep im getting lazy... so i have been trying to stretch my details as much as possible...

sometimes it is just too cold to even do an ONR wash that i have to resort to the local scratch and dash hand wash joints to get the salt off after we have snow... then i just correct whatever they screw up come the spring time... i know it is bad, but unfortunately i don't have the time anymore...

but don't worry, plans to move south or to cali are in the works... if only the job market cooperates!!!

J1N -

Did you apply the UPP with a machine then just wipe off by hand???
When you add more coats next weekend, what will you do to the car before applying them?

before i added UPP i polished the entire car with an orange pad with opt compound II followed by a white pad with opt polish II. then when i finished i rewashed the car to make sure all the polish was removed.

I applied with the flex 3401 buffer with the soft black pad on the lowest setting (1) and i wipe off by hand. the buffer made it very easy and fast to apply to the car.

when i add more coats im just going to wash and dry then apply another coat. i will probably wait a few hours in between coats. also im going to let it dry for about an hour before i remove it.

The best stuff ever! Even after a rain storm my paint is still slick.

I would wait 24 hours b/t coats of 4UPP.

This is basically what I did. Opt II compound with orange, then Polish with white, but I didn't wash the car with soap/water. I did the alcohol/water thing then UPP with a red pad on PC.

I worried I put it on too thin but I think I did it right. I hope to do more layers but not sure how many. I'll wash it beforehand. Have Griots wash and I hope that doesn't remove any UPP.

I'm totally sore all over from all this.
