Need some help with scratch removal

Ok Guys I am at a loss as to what I can do about my wife's car and hope some of you can help. First of all when pulling into the garage awhile back she pulled in too far and hit some shelving which badly scratched the hood. I have taken several days to fill in the scratches and am planning on using a 2000 grit wetsanding paper to even out the paint, then buff out the scratches with the UDM machine or PC and maybe the XMT product line. Figured I would start with the #3 and then #1 or 360. If #3 doesn't work maybe go with the compound. Here's a pic

Oh wait it's not over yet. There are also severe scratches on the driver side door too. What would you do? what products would you use and what pads with either a UDM or PC, or would you go for a rotary. I have not ordered anything yet. I've been trying to figure our what to buy. Thanks in advance guys

for the door scratches, can you catch them with your fingernail? I would use Four Star Body Shop Medium Cut Compound, it works wonders. For the pads,I would use a cutting pad, but nothing to agressive.

Yah, run your nail past the scratches horizontally, and if your nails catch on them, then it's going to be deep enough where you might to get it professionally done.

on the door for the most part I cannot catch my nail on it. Only in the very front of the scratches. My guess is I should be able to clean it up quite a bit but it will not be perfect. Depending on how well I can buff it out will determine if I get it repainted.

Any advise on the front hood? Anyone have good luck with wet sanding and then buffing?

wedsand with some fine paper, go only in 1 direction, clean with MF towel and then polish using something that can remove the sand grit marks.
