thought i would share some pictures of my NBP type-S restore project and the paint correction that i did. i used Meg's m100 compound with a microfiber cutting pad for the cutting stage and Meg's ultimate polish for the refining stage. trunk before A pillar before A pillar before mirror before mirror after hood 50/50
any tips you can offer or any problems you came across while doing this? i have all the materials and tools but haven't gotten to preparing for or polishing my 06 NBP. kind of want to get a paint thickness meter first
It was the first black car I had done any correction on as my personal vehicles are both silver metallic. But I will say the Meguiars M100 compound I used definitely dusted quite a bit but it has a good cut combined with a microfiber cutting pad. The technique I used for cutting was 2 section passes like a "mow down" method which is faster arm speed to cut through the lighter swirls and wash induced marring then blowing out the pad and adding some more compound to the pad and doing another 2 or so slower passes to get some of the deeper scratches. But it's the fine line of knowing when to stop chasing all the deep scratches as I didn't want to compromise the clear coat. And I don't have a paint depth gauge.
