Thumbs down Natty's Paste Wax

I used this yesterday as a change of pace from S100. The reflection is about the same as S100, but it was a BITCH to remove and it dusted. Instructions suggested to let it dry (which should have been my first clue) then wipe off. I didnt think of it at the time, but I probably should have used a QD'er to help me.

But hey, it smells like bubble gum

I'll be sticking with S100...

S100 does come off much easier than Nattys. But for me it seems Nattys lasts a little longer.

Natty's last longer for me, but it's not as slick as S100 4 weeks in. With that said, I also pick S100 over Natty's, although Natty's is a GREAT product; I have it on my GTO right now, but mainly because I didn't have any S100 at the time, I bought a can a few weeks ago and it'll go on w/ my next application

S100 is one of the easiest waxes to remove. That said, Natty's definitely shouldn't be difficult. It helps if you add a little water to the foam pad when applying and use some qd when buffing it off. Anyway, sorry to hear it went poorly for you.

Yea, I might have put it on a bit too thick. It gave some great depth on the CG TSX, so I want to use it again. I think a QD'er would be a big help.

BTW, JackieO, you were right about Poorboys SSR's...I used SSR2 on the wifes Accord and sure enough it dusted. I used Optimum on the TSX and not only did the swirls go away faster, but ZERO dusting Love that stuff. However, it did "stain" the black trim a bit, so I had to work to clean it off...

Cool - glad to hear it worked for you. Some folks have a tough time with Optimum because it can take so long to work in, but once you get the hang of it -

And ya, Poorboys makes good stuff (I love nattys, ex-p, spray and wipe, etc...) but their polishes and I just do not seem to get along.

So where are the pics?

sounds like I need to give S100 a shot. I've heard so many great things about it.

As soon as I run out of Z5 and Z2, I'll get some.

I know - I've always thought it was interesting how folks can have totally different experiences with the exact same products. I think the ssr's are great for removing marring, I just can't stop them from dusting no matter how hard I try. At the same time I hear people going on about how opt polish is a paint to remove, takes too long to break down, etc... and I've always had nothing but success with it.

Wow, I never get any significant dust with the SSR's, none even worth mentioning. As for Opt Pol being hard to remove? Thats a first..........

Hard to remove if you don't break it down all the way - it kind of stays oily. Just a matter of breaking it down.

As for dust - ya, I know, I can't explain it either. I have a couple gallons of ssr 2.5 and 1; I've tried everything I can think of and I always get a ton of dust.

Anyway, sorry for the ot

Ah, I forgot to take pics...I can do it tonight when I get home if there's still some light out. I'm curious how long Natty's will last since I didnt put a sealer on. In fact, I've got some other pics around here when I did my last routine, which was SSR1, AIO, S100...So we should be able to compare...

Well, S100 is something you can top Zaino with, so no need to wait! In fact, I like the Zaino/S100 combo. You get the reflectivity of Zaino with the depth/wetness of S100...

Yea, I tried PB's polishes based on your experencies and suggestions. Do you usually run your PC at #6? That's when I started to notice the dusting. Optimum however took it like a champ and it lasted a while before it flashed. The SSR's just seemed to dry out too quickly...

I rarely run at 6, usually 4.5-5.5

Well, I think when they dusted I was using the Sonus SFX pads, which I think suck anyway since their impossible to clean. Just not porous enough...

I didnt use water, but even when the pad was saturated, it still wanted to dust up. Maybe it was just the fact that I was running at 6. I guess I dont need to run that high, but until I learn to use a rotary, it seems the fastest way to remove those light swirls...

I think the dusting might have to do with environment too. I got a lot more dusting in the winter when it was dry than in the summer when it was humid. Just a thought.

Oh humidity is important no doubt, except when applying sealant. Then you would like the humidity rather below average.....

what I meant by it being the pads, had the pads been used before.

This thread just about threw me for a 180, after a week of reasearch i thought i have my list down, and then this I know its one persons opinion about this nuba, and i was going to use it as a last step to 4* UUP. Excel detail or other details have any insite to why he wouldnt' have liked this and why this over s100??

Well, its been noted that I probably put too much on. BUT, I could slather on S100 and never have a problem with removing OR dusting.

Since they both cost the same, I'm sticking with the S100

Honestly, when it comes to carnaubas the difference in look is very minimal, often times subjective. I find Nattys to be wetter and more reflective than P21S, while P21S is deeper, darkens paint, and has more of a "glow". The one you prefer is a matter of taste. I find that generally most of my clients perfer Natts Blue, however I think that's because it has that in your face wet bling look; whereas P21S is more subtle and understated. Really, you can't go wrong with either.

Gotta agree with JackiO about Nattys, more reflective and wetter. Comes down to personal choice. Both S100 and Nattys cost about the same so it won't break your wallet. One small advantage about S100 is that it's available at most HD shops whereas Nattys is online only.

I used to use carnaubas as my last step too, but once you do that, if you want to layer a sealant again, you need to clean the paint and start from scratch. If I were you, Id just layer on some UPP instead of using the s100 or Natty's.

After I started using UPP, that all changed. I love the look & slickness of UPP, and since it is so easy to put on and remove, I always toss on another coat of UPP or the spray version (UPPS) for an even quicker application after every few washes.

I no longer use carnaubas at all on my cars, and just toss on another coat of UPP when they are due for more than a wash.

P.S. I know the points were old, but I love the SSR line, particularly 2.5, and when I work it in properly, I get practically no dusting at all.
